Default Re: Building an intake manifold

Well, the old throttle body was bolted to the engine by way of a bracket that was bolted to using the case bolts.

Some solutions are so obvious, i was going to weld a flange onto the IM and bolt that flange to the case in the same way, but, i just did not like the solution, anytime i had to remove the IM i would have to unbolt the bolts that hold the case together, not a good solution.

Well, now we are fabricating steel brackets to permanently bolt to the engine and then mount the IM flange with a vibration damper between them so it is removable. now i just need more high temp stuff and to fab these brackets which will be a PIA. I think i can make a wood form and rough them out with the plasma cutter. 1/8 steel is hard to work with just a band saw, disk/belt sander and files. Each bracket has to have 2 ears for attach points.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much time, now a bolt that i have to extend to hold a bracket to hold the Intake Manifold interferes with the Intake manifold, no problem, just cut a corner off and weld in a new piece.

Finally received the 450F silicone rubber 1/8 thick material to use on the IM attach points.

the never ending story
